1994年毕业于安徽蚌埠医学院临床医学专业，获医学学士学位。1997年获中山医科大学寄生虫学硕士学位 2000年以联合培养形式去美国Tufts University从事博士论文课题研究，2001年获得医学博士学位。

同年留校工作于中山医科大学寄生虫学教研室 2001-2003年在美国Tufts University大学从事博士后研究工作。2003-2010在美国University of Illinois at Chicago从事科研工作，并于2006年在该校担任研究助理教授。2010年作为中山大学海外引进人才在中山医学院工作，聘为中山大学教授、博导。
